Culebra is an island from the United States as part of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The beaches of this tiny island are among the most beautiful in the world. The main beach, Flamenco beach, is situated in the northern tip of the island and stretches a mile long of pristine white coral sand. Strict conservation regulations have kept the beaches of Culebra in excellent, natural conditions.

Transportation

Because of the island’s small size (11.6 square miles), any drive is a five minute drive. It is very popular amongst tourists to rent a Jeep or move from point to point by paying for local taxis that charge around $3 per person, per destination.

Getting there

To get to Culebra, you can go by a ferry boat which takes about 2 hours to get there from the Fajardo, Puerto Rico port and costs about $3. Otherwise, you can go by plane from either the Fajardo area (about $40) or directly from San Juan (about $80 – 100). The plane from Fajardo will take you about 30 minutes, and the one from San Juan about 50.

Accommodations

Culebra has plenty of small boutique hotels to stay in that start from around $100 per night. Alternatively, if you are going on a budget, you may want to bring your camping gear. Camping grounds are conveniently located a few feet from Flamenco Beach, giving you a beautiful natural experience. Camping is about $20 per tent, regardless of how many are sleeping in it. There is 24 hour security and showers.
