A practical guide to Puerto Rico, kept current

Hand-painted view over a Puerto Rican coastal town at golden hour

PuertoRico.com.pr has published guides to the island since 2013: the forts and plazas of Old San Juan, the rainforest and the karst caves, the bioluminescent bays, the beaches of Culebra and the west coast, and the kitchens of Guavate and Piñones. It is written for people planning a trip who want to know what a place is actually like, how to get there and what to check before they go.

How the guides are kept up to date

Places on the island change. Hurricanes close trails, earthquakes shut museums for years, ferry operators change hands and parks introduce reservations. When we update a guide we check it against the people who run the place — the National Park Service, the US Forest Service, Puerto Rico's Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, the museums and operators themselves — and the page shows the date it was last checked and the sources it was checked against. 46 guides carry that date today.

We leave out what we cannot confirm. If a price, a timetable or opening hours change often, the guide tells you where to look them up rather than printing a number that may already be wrong.

The business directory

The directory lists 183 restaurants, places to stay, tour operators and other businesses. Each one was checked against the business's own website before it was published, and each listing says when. Businesses we could not confirm are still operating are not listed.

Listing a business is free, and so is correcting one. If you own a business that is listed and something is wrong, or you would like to be included, write to us with the name, address, phone number and website.

Corrections

If something on the site is wrong or out of date, tell us and include the page title. Corrections are made to the page itself and the updated date changes with them.
